Digital Elevation model is basically the digital representation of earth surface; this is the representation of digital files consisting the points of elevation. There are some equally spaced intervals that are most commonly used to map the digital surface through the use of Global Positioning system.

Digital Elevation Model is mostly used with two optical images acquired from different angles and they must have been taken from the same pass of an airplane or an Earth Observation Satellite. This is a very complex mechanism to provide you the instant and digital picture of the surface of earth. There are some disadvantages of using the Digital elevation model that it cannot provide the full and clear image of buildins.The model provided by the digital elevation system consist huge selection of digital files that are most commonly used as a digital image processing system.

This model is most commonly called as a digital terrain model (DTM).Digital Elevation Model is most commonly used with GPS Maps to provide the digital images of the surface of earth.
